Day 18 (27 March): Bergen

In 33 days, we’ll be enjoying our second day in Bergen. While I’m sure there are lots of fun things we will get up to, including a Bryggen Segway tour or a Bergen walking tour, I’m sure that I won’t be able to stop thinking about what it would be like to live there!
In terms of the weather, Bergen’s is influenced by the Gulf Stream. The Gulf Stream is a powerful, warm ocean current that originates in the Gulf of Mexico and flows up the eastern coast of North America before crossing the Atlantic Ocean towards Europe. It's part of a system that helps regulate the Earth's climate by redistributing heat across the globe. The Gulf Stream carries warm water from the tropics to the North Atlantic, and its impact on climate is significant, especially for areas along it’s path, the Gulf Stream has a noticeable influence on the weather. Thanks to this warm ocean current, Bergen experiences a much milder climate than other places at similar latitudes. Bergen has milder winters, more rain and intense storms.

In terms of housing, prices in Bergen are generally more affordable than those in Sydney. In Bergen, the average price per square metre is approximately $9300. This means the average two bedroom property would be about $790K. Currently the average two-bedroom price in Sydney is just under $1M.
