In 33 days, we'll be saying goodbye to Denmark - after a very brief visit - and hello to Finland! Finnish Lapland, to be precise. We'll leave our little Airbnb in the centre of Copenhagen and take the ~20 min trip to the airport ready for our midday flight. The flight goes via Helsinki, but it's only an hour layover so we will make it to Rovaniemi around 5 pm. This will be our introduction to Finnair - the airline we've chosen to fly home with in another week or so.

We're staying in another Airbnb in Rovaniemi, also pretty centrally. It looks to be an approximately 12-minute drive from the airport to where we are staying. And here we are again back on the Arctic Circle - 66º30"N (technically, the Arctic Circle is currently at 66º33"N, as mentioned in a previous post)! At the start of April, Rovaniemi is still quite wintry. Temperatures typically range between -6°C to 2°C, though I've read the windchill can be nasty. Snow is still present, especially in shaded areas and forests, but roads and paths in the city may start to get slushy. I've decided not to take my snow boots and instead opt for waterproof trail runners, but this might be the moment I regret that and go shopping!

Daylight hours will be increasing significantly, with about 14 hours of daylight, and there's still a chance of snowfall. There's also still a chance of spotting the Northern Lights, if we've not already seen them yet! We have three full days ahead of us to explore the area - another bucket list part of the world!

A breathtaking sunset paints the Rovaniemi landscape in hues of yellow, orange, and purple, with snow-covered trees standing majestically against the colorful sky.

For those playing along at home... it's only 9 more sleeps until we actually leave for this epic trip!
