In 33 days… Day 1 (10 March): Leave home!

Welcome to the pre-holiday blog! This blog will continue until the day before we commence this epic holiday.

It’s 33 days until we depart our home! In 33 days, we will be:

• Packing our things

• Making sure Bronwen, our lovely house sitter, is all settled in and knows exactly what she needs to do

• Giving Lily and Max lots of hugs and kisses

• Setting off to the city!

We’ll take the train from Emu with our (hopefully not too much) luggage. We’re staying at the Rydges Sydney Airport, which is located right at Terminal 1 (International). There will be zero travel time in the morning (they say it’s 188 steps, which I can do in zero minutes for sure), which is useful as we need to check in around 3.30am. It’s also easy to get to from Emu station - a quickish train trip into Central, then one change to the airport.

We’ll check in and then probably jump back on the train and head back into the city for dinner. We’ll finally realise we can wind down into holiday mode! We will probably want to hit the hay by 9pm, given we will have a 3am alarm. But that’s a lot better than getting up at 1.30am for a 2am departure if we were at home! But… then again… we’ll be lying flat for the next 24 hours so really, what is sleep for?!
